I have just read an article on computer weekly that reports that the new UK identity card that is being issued to foreign nationals and is intended for use by UK citizens has been cracked, cloned and reformatted in as little as 12 minutes!
This is supposed to be state of the art technology that our government ministers have previously assured us that would be uncrackable. We already know that our government cannot handle our private data securely with numerous cases of CDs, data sticks and laptops containing private data being lost over the last few years alone.
Remember this is an identity card that although supposedly voluntary will slowly become mandatory over time as one by one government agencies and institutions start requiring its presentation to enable access to the service they provide. You won’t be able to get social security payments as they will almost certainly replace the national insurance card with the identity card. You probably won’t be able to get NHS treatment if you cannot prove you are a UK citizen that’s entitled to it and so on and so on.
The idea that replacing one card that is already being cloned, copied and used for fraudulent purposes with another seems pointless until you realise that as the original article states the government doesn’t really care if your private data is safely stored on the card or not. All they care about is the huge central government database that lies behind the card that enables the home office to have one central repository of all our details. This database will surely grow and grow over time like all computer systems do.
One thing I can also see happening is that if the identity card becomes mandatory then people will have to carry it about with them at all times in their wallets or purses. Add an RFID chip to the card and hey presto there is no need for RFID implants as the already growing police state can monitor citizens movements through the card alone.
There has been a lot of discussion and theories about RFID implants recently with those that speak out against implanting the populace with chips being decried as conspiracy theorists and nutters. However we should remember that like with all things that sound far fetched at first, over time and bit by bit, moral panics are constructed to manipulate the public through the MSM into accepting policies that they were originally against.
I will now give an example of how a fully chipped up populace could be introduced that isn’t too far fetched.
Everyone hates pedophiles and the MSM is full of articles every week about how many pedophiles are loose or living near playgrounds etc. I can quite imagine that if the government introduced a policy to have all convicted pedophiles implanted with RFID chips so that they could monitor there movements and ensure that they kept away from kids at all times that through a contrived moral panic outputted by certain news papers the public would probably accept this with little outcry.
Arguments such as “are you on the side of the nonces” and “do you want your kids to be abused because that’s what will happen” will be introduced as counter arguments to anyone protesting against this infringement of human rights and civil liberties.
However those on the side of liberty will unfortunately be in the minority and once its been accepted that pedophiles can be chipped and monitored then the powers that be will slowly start to increase the pool of people that this becomes acceptable for.
Murderers will be added to the list and then armed robbers. I mean no-one wants to be killed or robbed now do they? Before long shop lifters and any person convicted of common assault will be added until after some time every convicted criminal is chipped up. Its to protect the honest law abiding citizens don’t you forget.
It then only takes a small change in the law to add driving offences into this category and you soon have most of the population chipped and monitored. Get caught going 34mph in a 30 limit and you’re now a convicted criminal. Remember all convicts must receive the chip to protect all those innocent drivers that manage to keep to 30mph!
When that happens it can be argued that everyone should be chipped. Arguments such as it “just makes sense to cover everybody“ and “it helps the police to do their job more effectively” and “what do you have to hide” will be used to bombard dissenters and make them feel like they are on the side of criminals. Arguments like this need to be fought against vigorously and with as much logic, force and emotion as possible.
We already live in a world where most pets are chipped and countries such as Japan have started chipping their school children for “protection“. Therefore surely its not too far fetched to believe that a situation like the one I have just outlined could be manipulated into existence to introduce a chipped populace?
