As I have been surfing the net today I have come across a number of articles related to the building of a museum of tolerance in Jerusalem by the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Nothing strange about that you may think but the problem si that this monument to tolerance, which I can only assume is going to be a permanent reminder to the world of how we must never forget the crimes commited in the name of anti-semitism, is actually being built on a historical Muslim cemetery. Oh the irony.
It seems that the Israeli courts, who have upheld the decision to destroy the cemetery, have no qualms in desecrating graves when they belong to non Jews and even if the Palestinians are actually the true semitic peoples of the land this “crime” cannot be labelled as anti-semitic in nature.
It seems the Israelis have already destroyed much of this ancient burial ground which apparently holds remains going back to the time of Saladin and there seems to be little that the families of the deceased can do to stop the desecration.
The Israeli government is bound by international law to protect sites of antiquity in Jerusalem but up until 2008 they have protected 136 Jewish sites and no Muslim or Christian ones. Along with the policy of ousting Palestinian and Arab families from their houses and expanding illegal settlements in areas forbidden by UN treaties it seems that the Israelis have one aim in mind and that is to reduce the claims on the land by the Palestinians one way or another.
The irony here is of course once again we are expected to apply a degree of hypocrisy in our dealings with the Jewish state just like the political classes and controllers of the main stream media in America and Europe are so apt at doing. Whilst condemning in the most forthright manner any crimes carried out against Jews as anti-semitic even when they are not, we are also supposed to forget or forgive crimes committed in the name of a Jewish homeland especially if we are to escape being labelled an anti-semite.
Another example of this double standard that is so blatantly obvious to those in Muslim countries is the recent outrage from pro-Israeli lobbies regarding the recent attack and continued blockade of Gaza. Are we supposed to just forget about the massive prison camp that is Gaza today or the huge security wall being constructed around the Palestinians and are we are supposed to just ignore the recent Goldstone report because it accused not just Hamas but the IDF of committing war crimes. Is all this criticism of Israeli abuse justified or is all based in anti-semitic prejudice.
As well as building museums on Muslim graves the Simon Wiesenthal Center is also currently trying to block the Jewish author of the report from giving a speech at the New York University. It seems they don’t want this particular self hating Jew to talk about the numerous war crimes the IDF committed during the onslaught in which over a thousand women and children died in what was described in the report as “collective punishment”. The center says this about the report.
“Should Goldstone’s outrageous recommendations be adopted, international law will be used to render defenseless Israel against onslaught by non-state adversaries against its civilians.”
Yes that’s right, if Israel were to abide by international law and not kill women and children with white phosphorus that literally melts the victims skin to the bone, and if they didn’t shoot unarmed civilians or injured victims and old aged men and women then they would literally be defenceless against the home made rocket attacks from Hamas.
There is no middle way it seems between passively allowing the rockets to fall on Israeli heads and waging all out war with no limits or boundaries. Its either one or the other according to the Simon Wiesenthal center.
Couldn’t they just conduct their conflicts like the rest of the “civilised” world is supposed to do. Not that war is ever civilised but wasn’t it the barbarsim of world war two in which the Jewish population suffered so much that caused the Geneva convention to be created in the first place. Couldn’t they just use their multi-billion dollar armed forces and all their modern war toys to defeat their enemies without resorting to commiting war crimes. No one is saying Israel doesn’t have the right to defend itself but just do it without all the extras if possible please.
