Alaskan radio talk show hosts last week crassly defended the eldest daughter of the former Alaskan governor from the host of MSNBC’s Countdown.
“Now Bristol [Palin], I’m going to say something that you would probably like to say, but you can’t, but I can: Keith Olbermann is a dick,” one of the radio show hosts of The Bob & Mark Morning Show said during the interview.
“I agree with you,” Bristol Palin, 20, replied, after the radio team played a clip of Olbermann naming her “Worst Person in the World” last Monday.
In the clip Olbermann criticized Sarah Palin’s daughter for her new public service announcement advocating abstinence from sex.
“Sadly, it is not a spoof done by The Onion,” Olbermann said in the clip in reference to the US satirical newspaper.
“She is the… spokesperson for abstinence? She and her son? Because it’s got to work this time? This is like George Bush kept us safe except for that 9/11 thing which don’t count,” he added.
The Alaskan talk show team defended Palin, citing Olbermann’s “hypocracy” for giving campaign contributions to Democratic candidates after slamming FoxNews employees of campaigning for Republican candidates.
Then, the team compared Palin, a single mother, to the late Yul Brynner, a Hollywood actor with a history of smoking cigarettes who appeared in an anti-smoking PSA made prior to his death of lung cancer.
“According to Keith Olbermann, Yul Brynner would be the ‘Worst Person in the World,” the talk show host quipped.
But the talk show host continued, comparing Bristol Palin to “the best suicide prevention folks in the world… who have been down that road and can tell you exactly what it’s like and what you can expect if you make these choices.”
Palin said later in the interview that it would be “hilarious, sitting at that table with [Olbermann], having a conversation.”
“I just want to know why he would say that, though. What facts does he have behind that, and what have I done to deserve that (Worst Person) title?” she asked.
Persons who have successfully committed suicide were able to be reached for comment.
Bristol Palin trade barbs with Olbermann last week via Twitter and Facebook.
Palin had previously appeared on Bob & Mark’s show this past fall to promote her performance on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars.”
Toward the end of the dancing show’s season, a 66-year-old man from rural Dane County in Wisconsin was arrested on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment after he shot his television because he was angered by Bristol Palin’s dancing.
Steven N. Cowan and his wife were watching “Dancing With The Stars” when Cowan flew into a rage and told his wife to grab his pistols.
“The (expletive) politics,” he yelled, according to the complaint.
Cowan was upset with Bristol Palin’s performance on the ABC program.
He felt Palin was not a good dancer and that she was only on the show because of her famous mother, former vice presidential candidate.
