Germany s Wulff promises Afghan assistance after 2014

German President Christian Wulff said his country is committed to continue assistance with Afghan government and people by the withdrawal of its soldiers in 2014.

Talking at a joint news conference with his Afghan counterpart in Kabul, Wulff welcomed Afghan government s achievements in the sectors of education, public health and the empowerment of the national security forces.

We will continue our support to Afghan government in these sectors by the end of our military presence, Wulff emphasized.

President Karzai appreciated Germany s assistance with his government, saying it has helped Afghanistan in the sectors of good governance and the national police training.

Germany top official visits Afghanistan after 44 years.

Germany has 5,500 soldiers in Afghanistan mainly stationed in the northern Balkh, Konduz and Badakhshan provinces.
