Five suspected Taliban were detained in a joint operation launched in the southern Helmand province, the governor’s office said in a statement.

“The operation was launched in Gereshk district in which 173 kilogram opium, national army uniforms and some weapons and radio devices were seized at the house of a tribal elder named Mirza Khan,” the statement said, adding that Mirza Khan was also arrested.

According to the statement, the arrested men had part in terrorist attacks on the Afghan and foreign forces.
